The Mother Nurture Project includes a Prenatal Lactation Counseling Program at the St. John OB Clinic that performs breast-feeding consultations before delivery, an important decision-making time for new mothers.
The Mother Nurture Project also sponsors the Mother Nurture Club, a weekly post-discharge breastfeeding club for mothers and babies.
In addition the St. John Outpatient Breastfeeding Clinic addresses the breastfeeding concerns of women and babies after they have been discharged from the hospital–in any stage of their breastfeeding journey.
BMBFA’s objective is to provide education, valuable resources and ongoing support to black families and public/private agencies that service these families.
The Macomb County Breastfeeding Coalition is a collaboration of health professionals and community representatives whose mission is to identify and reduce medical, social and economic barriers to breastfeeding in Macomb County, Michigan through education, support and outreach.
The Macomb County Health Department sponsors the WIC supplemental nutrition program, a federally funded USDA nutrition program which provides free nutritious foods and infant formulas. In addition, the WIC program provides nutrition education and counseling services, breastfeeding education and support, health screenings, on-site immunizations and referrals to health and social services.
